What is the cost for my daughter to attend a retreat?
There is no cost to you.
Where will the retreat be held?
The Audubon Center of the North Woods located on Grindstone Lake. The address of the main building on the Audubon Campus is 54165 Audubon Drive, Sandstone, MN. We stay at the Schwyzer Lodge.
What activities are available to the girls?
Activities vary from weekend to weekend but typically include painting, sewing, yoga, crafts, music, cooking, nature walks, writing, photography, reading, games, cookie decorating and meditation.
How many girls attend a retreat?
Typically we host 6-10 girls during one weekend.
What is the retreat time frame?
We ask girls to arrive at the Audubon Center on Friday between 5:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Departure is noon Sunday.
How will my daughter get to the Audubon Center?
You are responsible for your daughter’s transportation to and from the retreat. If you will not be driving your daughter yourself, we ask that you let us know during registration who she has permission to ride with.
Will dietary needs be addressed?
Yes, when your daughter registers, she will have an opportunity to indicate any special dietary needs and we will provide meals to accommodate them.
What should my daughter bring to the retreat?
A sleeping bag, towels, personal items a warm jacket/sweatshirt and hat. We usually spend some time outdoors, so depending on the season she also may want to bring boots and a warm coat. Weather can be unpredictable in Minnesota, so she should plan on clothing for a wide range of temperatures. She also should bring a bag or box for the items she creates at the retreat that she will be taking home.
What is the policy regarding cell phones during the retreat?
Phones will be checked in during registration. During the retreat there is scheduled time for the girls to use their phones.
